SUSTAINABILITY IN ACTION!

BA Film, and Television staff have been trained and affiliated with the BAFTA Albert sustainability programme - a 'must have' credit / logo for all industry productions. You se the Albert Sustainable Production logo on most final credits now.

As a result of this training, we are about to implement a full programme of sustainability training (the Albert carbo calculator) guidelines and practices for students. This will be formally ingrained in our reapproved degree launching in Sept 2021.

Our immediate response to our Albert training has been the complete overhaul of all our film and TV production lighting systems, which are now all LED as opposed to tungsten. At great expense we have furnished our TV Studio and our other studios, plus location lighting with LED systems. We now fully operate on LED with excellent results on screen and in sustainability.

Further, having recently completed the production of 8 stand-alone, single camera, studio based dramas - all filmed on a purpose built set, built completely from 'found' and re-used materials. These materials are now in storage and will be reused as often as wear and tear allows, but their materials will be upcycled where possible in future use.

One thing we have noted and recorded during Covid restricted production, is the now excess use of latex (gloves) waste masks (have to be changed every 4 hours) and the materials in Covid test kits ... lots of plastic! If we are to continue - as we believe we will - with covid restrictions, there needs to be some further thought in the waste management and production of PPP.
