It's been a very heavy week. The 'House Project' term is almost underway, except we are now not calling it 'House', but 'The Dystopian Film Project'. As Year Leader and Unit Leader I now have the second year cohorts of two course under my tutelage and under my care: BAFTV and BATLEP - 166 students now all looking to me as their leader and guru. What is usually the BIGGEST film production project they do on their respective degrees, the one they build themselves up for ... that we build them up to, that all last term with screenwriting was making them hungry for, the one that all previous years have raved about ... well - it's gone. Snatched away by the covid pandemic. Everything transferring to online only. It's been a huge undertaking. A mammoth task to single handedly rewrite the unit, rethink it, restaff ... all in the space of a week and half! I have to 'sell' this new Lockdown filming and production team group working ... remotely ... as the best thing since sliced bread. Not a task I'm relishing, but I care so much about these guys and their student experience, I will move heaven and earth *in my heart) to make it work and to pull them along with me ... with each other. This is after all officially The Collaborative Unit. Onwards!
