Another student reaching out in crisis. Lost 2 close relatives to Covid, been struggling with their grief and their studies and their anxiety issues through the ceiling. This is a big part of my job at the best of times, but whilst students are locked down and in the thick of the most complex behemoth of a unit that they do on this degree ... we are experiencing so much pain. I am pleased my year group feel they can reach out to me like this. That shows that my approach with them works. I have always worked to build strong relationships with my cohorts. How they are treated and how they perceive we tutors ... hopefully as people they can trust and feel mentored by and cared for ... will enhance their student experience and by osmosis their learning. I take my inspiration in this approach from my old English teacher way back when in the dark and distant 1970's-980s Mr Bell. What a diamond.
